Owner and director of private architects' office, located in Jerusalem, Israel. Working on different projects, all linked with cultural heritage – from archaeological sites, to urban areas, individual buildings, master plans, management plans, policy documents and World Heritage nomination files. Author of more than 300 documentation files for historic buildings and neighborhoods.
Past director of the Israeli Antiquities Authority's conservation department, in charge of creation of national conservation policy for archaeological sites, managing professional staff and directing conservation projects.
Past director of the field projects department of the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles. Directing numerous projects all around the world (including China. Spain, Czech Republic, Benin, Tanzania, Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, USA). Responsible for negotiations with national authorities, leading the planning and execution of the projects.
18 years member of ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) International Executive Committee, its Treasurer General and liaison officer to UNESCO and the World Heritage Center, member of the ICOMOS World Heritage Working Group and WH Panel (all between 1990 and 2008). Member of ICOMOS Scientific Committees on Philosophy and Ethics and of the Historic Towns and Settlements Committee. Chairman of its Israeli equivalent committees. Past secretary of ICOMOS Training Committee and chairman of ICOMOS Israel.
Author of several management plans and many conservation plans all around the world – particularly in China and in the Mediterranean basin (Malta, Croatia, Bosnia &Herzegovina, Turkey). Prepared several World Heritage nominations and evaluated many others.
Teaching conservation at the North Galilee College.
Author of numerous publications on general conservation issues, as well as on specific projects and cultural heritage topics.
